Still more curious things in Bristol and beyond

Each year, in addition to its ongoing support for the denomination’s Home Mission and World Mission funds, our church raises funds for a small number of charities chosen for support that year by the church members; the supported charities this year are Serampore College in West Bengal, founded in 1818 by a group of three missionaries, one of whom - Joshua Marshman - had been a member of Broadmead Baptist Church before setting off for missionary service; and ThePlace2be.
As part of these fundraising efforts, in the last three years the church has been glad to host slideshows given by Glyn Duggan, one of its members. For many years Glyn has been particularly interested in ‘curious’ things; which he seeks out (or stumbles across by chance) and photographs, and used to give slideshows to dozens of groups over the years.
He has agreed to give another show for us this year, when he will show new material not used on the previous occasions. As the show is intended to raise funds, there will of course be an admission charge (£4.00, though this will include a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit in the interval!). You can pay at the door when you turn up, but if you want to guard against the risk of not being up to get in you can buy a ticket in advance by sending a cheque for the amount appropriate for the number of tickets you want, plus a stamped addressed envelope, to Broadmead Baptist Church (tickets), 1 Whippington Court, Bristol BS1 3HY. Tickets will be sent out from the beginning of February.
If you have been before to one of Glyn’s talks, you will know that they are entertaining as well as informative. If you haven't been, then why not try to come this year? There's a treat in store for you!
